The Primani series continues with this stand-alone dark romantic suspense.

Stalked by evil…

Psychic Rori Austin’s life is over. She just doesn’t know it yet. Suffering from recurring nightmares and terrifying fugues, she’s hanging on by a thread. When she blacks out and wakes up in 1969, she knows she’s out of control. Broke and alone in the city that never sleeps, she’s desperate to find someone who can hold back the darkness in her mind. When too-good-to-be-true Declan shows up out of nowhere, she’s thrilled until he starts asking questions she has no intention of answering.

Haunted by guilt…

Declan Manning is a killer and a healer. Demons fear him. Humans love him. Life is good. The last thing he needs is a human woman. After saving Rori’s life, he walks away, but can’t forget the fear in her eyes. It haunts him, dredging up memories better left buried deep. Intrigued by her secrets, he uncovers the horrifying truth. She’s marked for Hell, and her time is almost up.

Primani (priman’i) noun: Primani are paramilitary soldiers with supernatural abilities granted by an archangel. Ruthless and powerful, they police demon activity that threatens humankind on a large scale. Before becoming Primani, all were superior warriors with unique psychic abilities. The series follows them as they cross lines, fall in love, and butcher demons to save the world. Living by a loose code of morals, they’re more mercenaries than angels, prone to violence, vengeance, and in the end, heartbreakingly pure love. The first three books follow Mica’s transformation from human to immortal after she becomes entangled in the Primani world. Each subsequent book focuses on the unique story of each Primani as they battle both Hell and their own inner demons. Often dark, sometimes funny, full of twists, and steamy passion, the Primani series crosses the lines of paranormal romance, metaphysical fantasy, and occult suspense.

Interview with Laurie Olerich

People always ask how I came up with my Primani world. The answer should be simple, right? Not so. I think all authors toss around ideas before they finally settle on one that grabs their imagination and becomes a wonderful story. I wanted to create a world I could live in--sure, it’s fantasy, but still. I wanted that fantasy! Primani are paramilitary soldiers with supernatural abilities granted by an archangel.

Because real life is about more than finding true love and having great sex, my characters face devastating losses, painful truths, and choices that tear them apart. Exploring what makes us human is what I enjoy about writing. I love to put my favorite characters into painful situations and then watch how they handle it. Sure, I’m mean to them, but they like it! The Lost Soul Trilogy follows Mica’s transformation from human to immortal after she becomes entangled in the Primani world. Each subsequent book in the Primani series focuses on the unique story of each Primani as they battle both Hell and their own inner demons. Sometimes dark, funny, full of twists, and steamy passion, the Primani series crosses the lines of paranormal romance, metaphysical fantasy, and occult suspense.

Is this my fantasy world? Hmm. Hot, sexy males with wicked weapons and more wicked smiles? Brains and muscle? Heroines who can hold their own? Loss and redemption? Death and life? Absolutely, this is my world.

TinkNCognito’s review

I just finished this story today and I can say WOW!!! The Primani series just keeps getting better and better. Having read the other three books, I already loved Declan. I mean what isn't to love. He is warm, funny, charming and everyone's brother. But I always suspected there is something deeper there. And it's nice to get to see it.

Rory is a very broken character. She grew up without a family, in and out of foster care. She has visions she doesn't understand. And to top it off, she is being haunted - but by what! Declan comes across this beautiful, broken woman and is drawn to her, though he doesn't know why. And she trusts him though she doesn't understand it either. But together, they make a wonderful couple. Dec does everything in his power to help her, and gain her trust but is that enough? You really need to pick up this book. This book can be read as a stand alone but it does help to have the background of the other characters so I would read the first three books then pick this one up

pearls' review

Fans of Lara Adrian, JR Ward, Donya Lynn and Nalini Singh will love this series about Angelic enforcers.  Humans who have become the sword of God against evil forces, their is a cast of strong Alpha men and women to love and adore.  This 4th book can be read as a stand-alone (I have not read the previous books and was never lost).  In Broken Souls, warrior Declan must not only face his personal inner demons, but is also charged with protecting an innocent woman being plagued by a demon in her dreams.  The clock is ticking as her birthday approaches, and the warriors must use all their skills and special abilities to solve the mystery of who and why.

I love that Declan didn't just protect the maiden.  He teaches her to protect herself, allowing her to grow into a strong woman who can be an asset to the team.  Romance is also part of the story, but doesn't dwarf the overall plotline.  I can't wait to go back and read the first three books.  Laurie Olerich has a great future ahead of her.
