Laurie Roma's IAD series books are full of action and romance, mystery and personal connections. Her fierce defenders of Justice love with an equal passion. Her heroines are strong, self assured, successful women who carry scars from their life. And the Alpha men are secure enough to fight at her side. Exactly the balance I love. So at the author chat last week, it came as no surprise that we both enjoy In Death series books by JD Robb. Even in Laurie's SciFi menage series, she features strong women who don't back down in the face of danger or love.
That's not all I love about her writing, though. Laurie Roma's writing invites all the senses to participate in the experience. Colour, Sound, Sight, Smell, and especially Touch are woven into the scenes creating a sensual experience. In her newest book, Cross Point, Trinity describes it as being in a "sea of sensation". By starting the story in her cold, drab, isolated apartment of Chicago, Laurie is able to create a contrasting world of beauty in Sunset Point, where the flora and fauna, and the sand and ocean, press upon her as her lovers Jackson and Maxwell.
Full of action and romance, mystery and personal connections, Cross Point brings us a strong female character who teaches her Alpha men to stand beside her. (The scene where Trinity meets Maxwell is epic; and her meeting with Jackson is equally memorable.) This is a wonderful addition to the Sunset Point series line-up, and deserving of the #4 spot in the IAD series.
