Heroes You Can’t Say No To…

When you’re writing a book, you have to have a couple of goals—Write a heroine you can relate to and a hero you can fall in love with. No where in that list is there “Write a secondary character you just know you’re going to have to write his own book for.” While it’s nice to have a cast you can continue the series with, it’s kind of a bad idea to fall in love with two heroes at the same time.
Well, unless that’s the kind of book you MEANT to write.
When I wrote “Convicted”, I thoroughly planned only to give my writer heart to Cade. He was the hero. He deserved my devotion. (And for the most part, he had it. Mostly.) His best friend, however, kept tugging me over. Rick Trelane, damaged, angry, delicious… Oh, I gave Cade my all, but in the back of my head, Rick kept whispering, “You know you wanna come over and see about me…”
But how? I didn’t exactly leave Rick in a good place at the end of Convicted. In fact, I left him in a pretty bad one. (No spoilers, gang, sorry, if you want to know what I do to heroes I love, you’ll have to check out the book, lol) But Rick kept insisting. Didn’t I care about his happiness? Didn’t I want his rippling abs and intense blue gaze to be taken care of? I mean, didn’t I care at all??? How do you say no to that?
So I found myself back in Marketta, California, home of a whole new group of Marines turned law enforcement, all working to make the town a safe place again. Rick, I thought, you’re going to need a woman with a firm hand. One who won’t bend to your sexy sternness or be intimidated by you’re ability to invade small countries or the fact that you absolutely do not want her knowing your deepest, darkest secrets. It’s going to require a hell of a strong willed, powerhouse woman to take you on.
So I gave him to a baker named Whitney. Sugar and spice, everything nice-ish. Sorta. (Not really.)
Then I gave him a dead body. Because I’m nice like that. Well, not to the dead body—that guy was shot six times. Which makes you wonder who hated him so much… And why. And what Whitney has to do with it. At least I hope it does, or I shot that poor guy a whole lot for no good reason.

Dee Tenorio has a few reality issues. After much therapy for the problem—if one can call being awakened in the night by visions of hot able-bodied men a problem—she has proved incurable. It turns out she enjoys tormenting herself by writing sizzling, steamy romances of various genres spanning paranormal mystery dramas, contemporaries and romantic comedies. Preferably starring the sexy, somewhat grumpy heroes described above and smart-mouthed heroines who have much better hair than she does.
