Kenner's newest erotic story is a darker tale of forbidden love haunted by a bitter past.  Both parties shrouded in guilt and knowing the only way to salvation is also their own damnation.  There is intrigue and mystery solving the mystery of their childhood kidnapping.  There is sexual tension as they fight their feelings for one another.  There is innocence in their first love and passion in their efforts to move past it all.  Kenner captures a multitude of emotions with a storyline that blends the past and present as both find it intertwined in their lives.

With the possibility of prison, and Jackson's pending arrest, he begins to pull away for Sylvia. It is a fight she is willing to take on, she can't allow Jackson to put distance between them. But with Jackson's daughter in the picture, she must truly begin to face her own demons. Her fear of motherhood, fear of failing Jackson and his daughter almost paralyze her. I am a huge J Kenner fan. I loved her from the second I met Nikki and Damien and followed her through the Most Wanted series. I have just adored the Stark World so any time I can catch further glimpses into it, I am there.

But Sylvia and Jackson stand on their own merit as a story. They are wonderfully rich characters, complex in their motivations and feelings for each other. Syl's friend Cass is a great sidekick, too. Comic relief and the voice of reason, she helps to solidify how the story comes together., both in the first book and this one..

With a cliffhanger on this book, I am anxiously waiting on the next. Who am I kidding, I am anxiously waiting on anything Julie Kenner writes.

If you like lots of steamy scenes to go with your plot, this is the book for you.  After a long fight to be together in book 1, the secrets they've played close to the vest are being revealed as they learn to trust another for the first time.  Caught in the flash of the paparazzi, their love will either burn brighter or die. Together they must learn to overcome their past, sidestep the obstacles in their present if they want a future together.  And they must learn that sometimes you have to give up control and take risks if you want to grab that HEA.  I really like Jackson Steele as a man and I can relate to Sylvia a lot.
