Book Description:
She
fell for the nice guy, but will she fall for the real guy?
Ex-ballerina Ellie Bell has
twenty-four days left until her self-imposed man-less year is up. No more
falling for the wrong kind of guy—charming, sexy, bad. Why can’t she find
someone sweet like Charlie Johansson, her soldier pen pal? His e-mails meant
the world to her, and she can’t stop thinking about him…until she meets Hunter,
whose muscles and cocky smile threaten to have her relapsing.
Before Charlie “Big Game Hunter”
Johansson’s last tour of duty, he’d gone through women like crazy. But after
connecting on a real, emotional level via letters with his best friend’s
sister, Charlie’s ready for a relationship—with Ellie Bell.
But then her brother introduces
him as Hunter. Proving he’s no longer a player by becoming Ellie’s dance
partner for an Army benefit seems like it could convince both siblings he’s
changed, but the harder he falls for Ellie, the harder it is to come clean. Can
he convince her to fall for the real him before it’s too late?
Excerpt
She leaned down,
touched her forehead to his and whispered, “Hunter.”
He tried to
ignore the word and the way it tore at his chest. He wanted to stop her, stop
them, but knew he didn’t have the strength. All he could do was not move, not
think, not feel her soft hands take his face and tilt it, forcing him to look
her in the eyes.
“What’s wrong?”
she whispered. “What just happened?”
He could have
used the excuse that he didn’t want her to “slip up” again, but that wasn’t the
issue. He shut his eyes and swallowed, clueless about how to form the words.
“I don’t…” He
knew his voice was shaking. “I don’t…feel worthy,” he finally admitted, being
as honest as he could.
When he tried to
back away, she sucked in a breath.
“Hey.” Her hands
were on his cheeks, holding him in place. “Look at me.”
It took a moment
before he inhaled long and steady, and did as she asked.
She was gazing
at him, her lips parted, a broken, loving expression on her face. “You are,”
she whispered. Then she took his head in her arms and cradled him against her
chest.
Charlie could
hardly breathe. Never in his life had he felt so taken care of. He felt
cherished when he was with her, and loved—the same feelings he wanted to give
to her.

Teacher, always. Used to play school house instead of house. :)
ReplyDeleteI always thought I'd be a veterinarian or a writer. Guess I was half right, kinda - does publisher count? :P
ReplyDeleteI always wanted to be a writer. When I was a teenager I used to love to write YA.
ReplyDeleteFor me it was a teacher! I used to love playing school with my sister!
