Inspirational Warrior Goddesses Reading List

Twenty-five years ago, I watched my mother battle cancer.   Now, I watch as my friends battle.  Tink and Queenie have similar stories.  The positive lining to this dark cloud is that treatment and early detection of cancer has improved the chances of survival for women, men, and children.  Cancer is no longer the automatic death sentence it once was.  We are grateful to all the researches and fundraisers that have worked to make this come about. 

Literature has also noticed the survivors.  The role of cancer was once to provide the pain and angst in the story.  Now cancer is the jumping board to a new lease on life.  Authors have delved into the psyches and fears of survivors and helped them to reach for their stars.  The literature is now a source of inspiration. 

Two of our auction authors have heroines who are cancer survivors.  In Heather Rainier's His Tattooed Virgin, cancer survivor Jayne uses the art of tattoos to blot out her treatment scars, taking back control of her body and what happens to it.  In Sable Hunter's Cowboy Heat, Libby has spent most of her young life in hospitals.   Now that she is in remission, she plans on LIVING!  The Warrior Goddesses spirit is alive and well in these heroines.  

So I sought out additional novels that featured cancer survivors to list here for you. I must send a shout out to the bloggers at Smart Bitches, Trashy Books who first compiled these titles in 2011. To our Creative Goddesses (and Gods),
You are cordially invited to join our first annual Inner Goddess charity event, Warrior Goddesses. We are raising funds for a non-profit that helps cancer survivors rebuild their lives.   Authors and Bloggers have donated books, swag, and character naming rights to the auction.


Our book club’s vision is empowering ourselves one book at a time, realizing our dreams and reaching for them. We would like to do this in honor of the mothers and sisters in our lives that have been Warrior Goddesses fighting cancer by hosting a fund drive and auction over Mother’s Day. 


The auction will be hosted on eBay with 100% of funds going to the non-profit.  The auction will run May 12-18, closing on midnight (CST), May 18th.

Each day this week we will announce packages being provided by the sponsoring authors.
