REVIEW by pearls
Masters For Hire is about how having someone who believes in you can have the power to change your life.  CC starts out the book knowing that despite her attempts to the contrary, her life is not her own.  In an act of desperation to control her own life, she sets up a date with a male escort.  The fantasy he creates for her provides an opportunity for her to flex her new found independent wings.  Along the journey, she returns the favor to others in need.  I enjoyed watching her grow as a woman.  Devlin is too good for words. Like CC, you wonder how much is an act, and how much is the man.  Fantasy or not, he is the ultimate dream man.

In Book One of a sizzling new saga from author Ginger Voight, MASTERS FOR HIRE blurs the line between fantasy and reality with all the drama, angst, sex, and romance that made THE GROUPIE and FULLERTON FAMILY SAGAS beloved amongst her fans.

Intended for readers 18+ for graphic sexual content.

He shrugged out of his jacket as I perched on the sofa to pour us our wine. It was a wonder I didn’t spill it everywhere. I couldn’t wrench my gaze away from his body if I tried. Those broad shoulders… that solid chest…the promise of that bulge in those slim-fitting pants…and for the next couple of hours or so it was all mine, bought and paid for.

My pulse raced as he sat next to me, so close that I became intoxicated on the spicy, woodsy scent of his cologne. I was sure he could see my hand tremble when I handed him his glass.

Those sultry eyes rendered me mute as he stared at me. Finally he raised his glass. “To old friends and new beginnings,” he said in a voice so soft, it felt like an actual caress.

I nodded as I clinked our glasses together. I couldn’t tear my eyes from his supple mouth as he drank. Again, I drained another glass. I reached for the bottle, but Devlin leaned forward to grab my hand. “You’re not going to need that,” he murmured in a low voice that sent a shock wave to my core.
“I’m–I’m not?” I stammered.

He shook his head. My head was floating as high as a cloud as he took the glass from my hand and set it on the coffee table in front of me. He eased back against the couch, capturing my face with his hand. His thumb brushed rhythmically over my cheek as he stared down into my face. “I think I know what you want, Coralie. I definitely know what you need. The question is… do you trust me to give it to you?”

My eyes widened as I stared up at him. Slowly I nodded. I stared at his mouth as it descended towards mine, closing over my lips finally in a soft, sensual kiss. My insides went up just like kindling as his broad tongue parted my lips and darted inside. He tasted like champagne. It only made me feel drunker.

And I blame the alcohol for the wanton way I threw my arms around his neck and kissed this enticing stranger back. I mean, I was only human for crying out loud. This man looked like he just stepped off the cover of a magazine, and here he was kissing me. He was kissing me. Me! His lips on mine, his hands on my body, his tongue penetrating my mouth with all the passion I’d only read about in romance novels. His fingers tangled in my hair as he deeply explored my mouth with that skilled tongue, and I felt my whole body come to life as a response.

I wanted more, and I was in the very unique position to take it, no questions asked.

He held me close, with one broad hand sliding up my side to cup the full curve of my breast. I gasped into his mouth as he thumbed my nipple through the fabric. He pulled away to stare down into my face. “You spent all your life taking care of everyone else, but no one has taken care of you, have they?”

I couldn’t even speak. I just shook my head.

“I’m going to change that,” he promised. “I’m going to change everything.”

Ginger Voight is a screenwriter and bestselling author with over twenty published titles in fiction and nonfiction. She covers everything from travel to politics in nonfiction, as well as romance, paranormal, and dark, “ripped from the headlines” topics like Dirty Little Secrets.

Ginger discovered her love for writing in sixth grade, courtesy of a Halloween assignment. From then on, writing became a place of solace, reflection, and security. This was never more true than when she found herself homeless in L.A. at the age of nineteen. There, she wrote her first novel, longhand on notebook paper, while living out of her car.

In 1995, after she lost her nine-day-old son, she worked through her grief by writing the story that would eventually become The Fullerton Family Saga.
In 2011, she embarked on a new journey–to publish romance novels starring heroines who look more like the average American woman. These “Rubenesque” romances have developed a following thanks to her bestselling Groupie series. Other titles, such as the highly-rated New Adult series, Fierce, tap into the “reality-TV” preoccupation in American entertainment, which gives her contemporary stories a current, pop culture edge.

Known for writing gut-twisting angst, Ginger isn’t afraid to push the envelope with characters who are perfectly imperfect. Whether rich, poor, sweet, selfish, gay, straight, plus-size or svelte, her characters are beautifully flawed and three-dimensional. They populate her lavish fictional landscapes and teach us more about the real world in which we live simply through their interactions with each other. Ginger’s goal with every book is to give the reader a little bit more than they were expecting, told through stories they’ll never forget.

Joely Morgan never expected to start her life over again just months shy of the Big 4-0. But she didn’t expect her husband to cheat on her either. She packs up her kids and heads home to Mom—who happens to own the most popular restaurant in town. Joely immediately throws herself into emotionally charged cooking, and her passion-infused sweets are an instant hit.

Xander Davy, the much younger, good-looking, smooth-talking restaurant manager, can’t help but notice the new, attractive addition to his kitchen. The only problem, as he sees it, is that she doesn’t seem to know how desirable she is. He quickly decides to remind Joely what it means to feel like a sensual woman again.

Xander’s shameless pursuit makes Joely’s soon-to-be ex rethink letting her go. He uses the children to try to get Joely back, but their sixteen-year-old daughter has other plans. She’s fallen head over heels with none other than Xander, who has his sights set firmly on her mother.

In BACK FOR SECONDS, author Ginger Voight serves up a heaping amount of sensuality and angst in a tale of sexual and personal awakening, one that examines reclaiming womanhood no matter where you are in life.

EXCERPT
“What are you doing Friday night?”
His question startled her. “What? Why?”
He touched her arm, trailing goosebumps after his gentle fingers. “Let’s meet for drinks at the Ranch.”
She shook her head. “I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“Why not?”
She was quickly tiring of his uncomfortable questions. “I’m still married for one,” she snapped.
He grabbed her left hand, lifting it up to inspect her bare third finger. “I don’t see any rings on these fingers.” His potent eyes met hers.
She trembled and cursed the slight curl of his lips that indicated he had felt it. “You’re too young.”
He stepped closer and she very nearly stepped back. Despite the thirteen-year age difference, he was very much a man. “You may have a point,” he said softly as he studied her face. “But maybe there’s a way we could level the playing field.”
She swallowed hard. “How’s that?”
He took her hand in his, brushing his thumb rhythmically against her sensitive palm. She very nearly groaned out loud. “Age is about power, right? The deck is stacked in favor of the older person, who has wisdom and experience to seduce someone young and naïve.” For some reason Joely thought about Jena. Her throat tightened until it felt like she was swallowing rocks.
“So what do you suggest?”
He closed the small gap between them. “You have to let go of the power.”
Again she shuddered. She had no idea what he meant by that, and was both terrified and exhilarated. “How do I know I can trust you?”
“You don’t,” he said in a voice so soft and so smooth that her knees nearly buckled. “But that’s how you build trust, isn’t it? You have to go out on faith.”
Her deep brown eyes were wide as she stared into his handsome face. “How do I do that?”
He grinned as he caressed the side of her face with the back of his other hand. “Meet me at The Ranch ten o’clock Friday night. I’ll send over a dress that I want you to wear, something to show you how sexy you still are.”
When she returned to the house, she met a delivery driver at the door, who carried a large white box. “Miss Morgan?” he asked.
She fought the urge to correct him and say, “Mrs. Morgan,” considering, like Xander and Novanna had said, that wasn’t who she was anymore. “Yes,” she said as she approached.
“Package for you,” he said as he handed it off.
She fished a few dollars from her purse to tip the young man before carrying the large parcel into the house and up the stairs. She didn’t stop until she reached the bedroom, where she deposited the box onto her bed. Before she could rip it open, her phone rang.
It was Xander.
“Good morning,” he crooned into her ear.
“I assume you had something to do with this,” she said as she sat on the bed next to her gift.
“Guilty as charged,” he admitted happily. “Open it.”
She put him on speakerphone before she lifted the top of the box away and moved the tissue aside to reveal a silky black and lace dress. “Oh, Xander,” she murmured as she withdrew it, revealing a flowing skirt, snug bodice with a sweetheart neckline that dipped low in front. The wide straps were made of lace and the style was much like the other 50s-inspired clothing he’d selected for her. He clearly preferred retro glamour. “It’s lovely.”
“I’m glad you like it. I can’t wait until tonight so I can see you in it.” She shivered in spite of herself. “There’s just one thing,” he murmured.
“What’s that?”
“You’re not allowed to wear any underwear underneath it,” he said in a voice so low it nearly made Joely groan out loud.
“Allowed?” she echoed.
“That’s right. No panties. No bra. Just you. When I hold you close to me tonight at The Ranch, I want to know that I’m just a fine bit of silk away from fucking you right there on that dance floor. And I want everyone else to know it, too.”
“Xander,” she started, but he wouldn’t allow it.
“Ah, ah,” he said, and she could hear the smirk in his voice. “I’m the one in charge, remember? And you will be a good girl and do as you’re told.”
She could barely breathe. “Okay.”
“That’s not all,” he said. “I want you to drop off the kids wearing this dress.”
Her heart nearly stopped. “Why?”
“I want him to see what he threw away.”
She made a face he couldn’t see. “He won’t care,” she said.
“Yes, he will,” Xander promised. “Because somewhere deep down he’ll know that this weekend you belong to someone new.”

Like any good fairy godmother, Xavier enters their lives, when they are at their lowest.  Joely and her 3 children have just been kicked out by the cheating husband.  Xavier sets out to bring some happiness into their lives, teaching them how to move forward.  When Joely finds a way to turn her stay-at-home mom skills into a career, Xavier works by her side.  As his feelings of respect for her grow, so do his feelings. I liked that Xavier lets her grow into her own person before they reach for intimacy. The plot was more important than the bedroom, even showing a balanced view of the failed marriage from both wife and husband.  That being said, the bedroom scenes are definitely hot.
