The author that beat Amazon at its game

The Fall and Rise of "The Keeper Finds Her Mate "
a guest blog by Red Phoenix

Thank you Pearls and Tink of Inner Goddess for inviting me to your blog today! I am very honored (and thrilled) to share the recent triumph my fans had with Amazon.

For those unfamiliar with my work, I write women’s erotica. I am best known for my Brie series centering around BDSM, but I write erotica in all forms - from sweet contemporary young love, paranormal (werewolves and vamps), to sexy ménage – all with delicious sex scenes, naturally.

I recently wrote a sequel to one of my first novelettes, The Keeper of the Wolf Clan. It is a paranormal about wolf shifters. I love the story of Layla, she is so strong and loyal to her clan despite the loss of her mother.

This is a shifter world where the wolves can shift in and out of human form at will. But you see, the Daric clan holds a secret, one that could destroy their pack if it ever got out. Layla becomes a part of that terrible/powerful secret...

The Book Was Banned on Amazon Before It Ever Published

I knew the Bonding Ritual might be considered a little controversial, but I never thought Amazon would ban my inspiring shifter story, especially when they had published the first book with the same theme.

I announced the publishing date and all of us were waiting with bated breath for it to go ‘live’ – we waited and waited and waited. Instead of being published, the book was blocked and I was given a generic explanation that the book “did not meet Amazon guidelines”.  I had never had that happen before and was devastated.

Authors and readers alike came to the rescue, Kallypso Masters and Pearls of Inner Goddess were two among many great supporters, and together this incredible group of fans, authors and readers emailed Amazon to protest the censorship.

I’d seen similar email campaigns for authors fail in the past, so I held out little hope. With a sad heart, I was preparing to upload a new cover and an abridged version for Amazon only.

My Fans Triumph!

Before I could, I woke up to a message from a fan congratulating me for getting The Keeper Finds Her Mate on Amazon. I clicked on my author dashboard and sure enough, instead of “Blocked”, it read “Live”. I am not embarrassed to admit that I danced, cried and cheered.

I cannot properly express the joy I feel having my book published EXACTLY the way it was written. Thank you to each and every person who took the time to support me. I am forever grateful!

As a treat, my friend and fan Christina Gwin, created videos for both Keeper novellas. Please enjoy…

 We're Celebrating with FREE BOOKS

When we invited Red Phoenix on our blog, we were hoping to help in her fight to get her book on Amazon. We are against censorship and strive to provide a platform for authors not able to promote their books elsewhere.  We are so excited that the readers showed their muscle and convinced Amazon to change its stance,
that we are giving away an ecopy of both
The Keeper of Wolves and The Keeper Finds Her Mate by Red Phoenix to 1 lucky winner!!!

  1. Congratulations! A reader should have the right to choose what they want to spend their money on to read as long as they are fully aware of the content and an author should have the ability to tell their story in the way that they see it unfold in their head. I am so glad that you were able to get the story out there in the way that you wanted!! <3

  2. Thank you, Kim! Because I tell stories from the heart, to have it blocked felt personal. To have it go live without any changes was the best feeling in the world!

  8. It felt so good to be able to make a difference with the publishing of this great book on Amazon. I am so against censorship and Amazon has no business doing that to its authors. Red Phoenix is a phenomenal writer of stories from her heart and my heart broke for her. I have never written such a letter before and I did not have much hope that it would help. But it did!!!

  9. Red, it goes to show what uniting together for a common goal can do! Voices combined can make things happen. I am a grown up and capable of deciding what I want to read. I remember this going on and the groups I am on FB with were with you all the way!

  10. Congrats, Red Phoenix! And thanks for all those who assisted in the fight to get Amazon to remove their ban, including Kallypso Masters and the Inner Goddesses. The freedom of an author to her stories her way is one worth fighting for. I'm glad to own my own copy now.
