Rebecca Zanetti is one of my favorite authors.  The Dark Protectors follows a breed of male immortals with whom a few select human females can mate.  When a reporter stumbles upon their secret and threatens their hidden existence, multiple hits are put on her life.  Tire of killing, the former assassin assigned to her by the king vampire fights for a way to save her life, only to find she is mate.  The story has lots of action, as they are on the run.  There is drama as three estranged brothers are re-united, but from different camps, in a fight against an old enemy.  And there is a lot of sexual chemistry between Charlton and Olivia.  As the behind-the-scene players become exposed, the stakes rise, and the passion heats up.  Although part of a series, this storyline works as a stand-alone.

What in the world was she doing? She’d just agreed to have sex with a vampire. In fact, forget the guy was a vampire. She’d just agreed to get naked and horizontal with the sexiest and probably the most dangerous man she’d ever met.

They did it horizontally, right?

“Why?” he asked, tossing the belt over his shoulder and moving toward her.

The scent of man and the warmth of male washed over her. “I want to.” Sometimes life was as simple as that. Plus, her curiosity had gotten her far in life, and she just couldn’t turn it off. “Do we really have to have an in-depth conversation about this?” Geez. Kiss her already.

“No. Just making sure this is what you want.” He lifted her against his torso, turning to stride toward the bathroom.

“You’re strong,” she said breathlessly, grabbing his very bare chest for balance.

He grinned. “You’re a lightweight, sweetheart.”

She scoffed. “Not even close.” Did she really want to get naked with such male perfection? Nobody had ever called her petite. Or small. Or fit. “Wait. I’m not—”

Then his mouth was on hers.

Hot and deep, he commandeered her lips, sending her senses spiraling. She moaned low in her throat and kissed him back, or rather followed his lead.

Still kissing her, he somehow reached into the shower and flipped on the water. Slowly, keeping her pressed against his muscled body, he allowed her to slide down him until her feet settled on the smooth tile.

She broke the kiss, her mind turning to mush, her breath panting out. A sense way too sharp to be desire sliced through her, making her want him with a craving that should give her pause. But it was too late to pause.

The look in his eyes was pure lust…and it was for her. He wanted her…all of her.

Drawing courage from that look, she reached for the hem of her dress and yanked it over her head.

The sound he made, low and guttural, vibrated through her body to land between her legs. “Beautiful,” he murmured…

 I read this book in 1 night!  Whether it's the action in the battle or the intensity between Jory and Piper, the pacing keeps you reading to see what will happen next.  Under a deadline the two fight for his life and for their chance to be together.  This title in the Sin Brothers series focuses a lot on family and what the word really means.  Jory, like his brothers, is hot and all Alpha.  He'll quickly join the ranks of hottie book boyfriends.

One of my favorite parts of a Rebecca Zanetti novel is her ability to create a scene that you can visualize.  The opening scene of Blind Faith is like a scene straight out of a movie, as the spies make their moves and their countermoves.  I also love how intensely her characters' emotions run, whether it's the horror of an explosion or the pain of betrayal or the bonds of brotherhood.  This is not a simple blast from the past reunion story.  The characters have to work at regaining trust, trust in one another and in their love, and the author allows the time for this to build.  But as the outside forces come crashing in, they rally around one another as a tight cohesive unit.  In Jurassic Park, the quote is Life will find a way.  In this genetically altered group, Love and Family find a way, and I cannot get the young Dean boys from their flashbacks out of my mind.
