Heavenly Angel
Divine Creek Ranch
by Heather Rainier
a MFM Cowboy Ménage Romance

BLURB:

Angel Martinez has worked patiently for months to draw the fragile beauty out of her shell, wooing her with gentle kindness and falling for her delightful two-year-old in the process.
Teresa left her painful past behind and built a new life for her and her son. She cares deeply for Angel, but is afraid to let down her guard. Just when she thinks she might be able to handle the flirtatious Divine Creek Ranch foreman, a holiday visitor arrives and throws her for a loop. Fresh from a one-night stand, self-confessed ‘rodeo slut’ bull-rider Joaquin Martinez shows up at his brother’s house Christmas Eve, and finds out for himself what love at first sight feels like.
She could barely handle one. Now she’s got two Martinez brothers after her. Can she forget the past and fall for both her heavenly Angel and his handsome, devilish brother?

Foodie EXCERPT:
“Mmmm, you’re making tortillas?” Joaquin asked admiringly, like she’d offered to strip for him then give him a lap dance.
“Yes…why?” She teased, “Would you like me to make some special for you?”
“Please, baby?” Angel wheedled as he helped her rise from the loveseat. He turned to Joaquin and said, “I’ll deny it if you ever repeat this to our mother, but Teresa’s homemade flour tortillas are the best I’ve ever had. Way better than Mom’s. Try them, and you’ll see what I mean. She has magic in her little fingers,” he added as he kissed said fingers.
Joaquin arched his brows and grinned. “Magic fingers, huh? Is there anything I can do to help?” He closed the recliners and followed her into the kitchen.
“I’ll let you cook the chicken breasts and grate the cheese if you want. That way I can start the tortillas.”
She made some tortillas and set them aside on a plate under a dish towel. She spread butter on one and rolled it up, then gave Joaquin the first bite. He moaned rapturously as he stirred the chicken while she took the next bite.
“You like it?”
“Please marry me!” He opened his mouth for another bite.
She held it back, teasing him. “What about my cooties?”
He gave her a devilish grin. “I like your cooties. Give me more, please,” he begged. She held it up for him, and he took another big bite. “Angel was right,” he said over the mouthful. She blushed with pleasure that he liked it so much. He turned the chicken and covered the skillet with the lid. “He said you were a good cook, and he wasn’t exaggerating. Who taught you to make tortillas?”
“My mother. She also taught me how to cook. When I left Tillman, she gave me her recipe book.”
“She did? Wow.”
She smiled and chuckled a little to herself as memories of her parents came to mind. When he looked at her expectantly, she giggled and said, “I can remember when I was a little girl, my father would come in the backdoor while she was cooking and tug on her apron strings. He would sing ‘Besame Mucho’ to her and use them to pull her into his arms and dance her around the kitchen singing to her. She would giggle and blush, but I know she loved it. He made her very happy.” Her chin quivered, and her vision blurred with unshed tears. The pain of missing them the last three years was suddenly a heavy weight on her heart.
She sniffled and allowed him to pull her into his arms. He patted her back, and she sighed. After a minute, she wiped her eyes and smiled up at him. “Thank you. I’m so emotional today.”
“Don’t apologize. It must be hard to be away from them, especially during the holidays. I hope you won’t think ill of me, but I tended to tune my mother out when she went off in Spanish, and my dads hardly ever spoke it around us kids. When she spoke Spanish, she was usually yelling, or maybe even cursing, who knows? What does besame mucho mean?”
Teresa turned to him incredulously. “You’re kidding right?”
“No, ma’am. I’m a Texas boy. I speak English and Texan. Angel knows some Spanish, but I was never a good student.”
“Well, besame mucho means…kiss me, a lot.” She giggled when he smiled big. “I have it on a CD. I’ll bring it so you can hear what it sounds like. It’s a beautiful, old romantic love song.”
“Do you like to dance?”
“Yes, but I haven’t gotten much practice. Angel taught me how.”
“I would love to dance with you some time.”
Her heart felt open and unfettered as she turned to him and looked up into his handsome face. “I’d like that, too.” Feeling brave, she rose on her tiptoes and kissed him. Her hands slid up his broad chest, over his shoulders, and into his silky hair. She shivered when his lips and tongue stroked hers. He slid his large hands over her ribs, holding her lightly. She could tell by his touch and his kiss how careful he was being to not come on too strong. He allowed her complete control of the moment, so she took her time.
Her heart pounded, and her nipples hardened against his chest, tingling almost painfully. The heat of desire washed through her core. That sensitive spot between her legs throbbed in pleasure, and her panties were suddenly damp. His masculine scent filled her nostrils, and she moaned softly against his lips.
They were brought back to Earth abruptly by the smell of a burning tortilla. She used a fork to hurl it in the sink then quickly applied another one to the cast iron griddle. He smiled, watching her fingers work the next tortilla. She grinned up at him and leaned her head against his arm as he stirred the chicken and turned the heat off.
“Did I surprise you?”
“I’ll say! Surprise me as often and as much as you like, sugar.”

King Ranch Chicken
1 pkg. of corn tortillas (at least 10 but I use up to 15-20) Cut into quarters
1 rotisserie chicken, deboned
1 can Cream of Mushroom soup
1 can Cream of Chicken soup
1 cup chopped green bell pepper
1 cup chopped onion
½ teaspoon chili powder
¾ lb pkg longhorn cheese (medium cheddar or rat cheese will work, too)
½ drained can of Rotel (diced tomatoes with chilis) or whole can if you like it hot
1 drained can plain diced tomatoes
Mix soups, peppers, chili powder, onion in a pan and heat on medium.
Layer bottom of pan with overlapping tortilla pieces, pour half of heated mixture over tortillas, follow with half of the deboned chicken and sprinkle a bit of the cheese. Place another layer of tortillas, follow with hot mixture, chicken, top with the rest of the cheese, and then top with all of the diced tomatoes. Bake uncovered at 250 for 1 hr.
Serve with remaining tortillas, after heating wrapped in a damp paper towel for 1-2 minutes.
This is the recipe Teresa was making with Joaquin in Heavenly Angel. The only difference is that I have updated the recipe to use a rotisserie chicken instead of adding the step of cooking chicken. If you prefer to try it the other way, just cook boneless chicken breasts in a generous amount of butter over low to medium heat. Slice to add in casserole layers.

Heather's Bio:
Heather Rainier lives and writes in South Central Texas. Her stories offer up the content of her fantasies, with autobiographical humor, triumph and tragedy mixed in.

Heather's love of romance fiction began as a teenager when her mom gave her copies of Kathleen Woodiwiss's "The Flame and the Flower" and Bertrice Small's "Skye O'Malley". To this day she's pretty sure that was her mom's version of the "birds and the bees" talk.

Heather writes the type of novel she loves to read: More erotic and edgy than the mainstream, with plenty of sweet romance mixed in and a happily ever after guaranteed. Heather's favorite type of hero is the gentle, lovable giant but readers will discover a wide variety of heroes and alphas on the pages of her novels, from nearly perfect to very flawed.

When not happily typing at her keyboard, Heather is usually busy corralling her kids, or loving on her smokin' hot husband, who thankfully loves to cook.

Foodie Excerpt
She dropped his changed on the floor.  He smiled as he heard her friends giggling at the table behind him.
He leaned over the counter staring at the line of her back beneath the chocolate-colored T-shirt, the luscious curve of her butt emphasized by the tight low-rise jeans. Damn, he wanted to het his palms on that ass, lick every indentation of her spine.  "By the way, I don't like vanilla either."
She straightened with a snap, cinnamon brown eyes deer-in-the-headlights wide. "What?"
"I heard you say that you don't like vanilla.  Neither do I."
Her mouth worked silently for a moment. "You ...don't?"
"Don't get me wrong, vanilla done well can be extremely satisfying.  But there's nothing wrong with a little spice, some variety, extra flavor on the tongue.  Don't you think?"
She had his change in a death grip, her head down. When she looked at him again, a wicked, challenging light shone in her gaze.  He was in trouble
"I definitely believe in variety being the spice of life, Professor," she said, her voice low and husky. "It's why I make sure I offer a little something extra for every taste."

Sex, love, and rock 'n' roll are all Adam believes is holding the band Rock Hard together. In the week's following their last concert, Adam, Deuce, L.T., and Jamie have not held a practice, and their new album is unfinished. The jealousies and secrets that almost tore them apart have changed to new conflicts. In a fit of rage, Jamie tells Adam that the five of them are nothing but "jealous hearts," when the insanity hits.

Zane, the band's physician, is now living at the Rock Hard mansion full time. He believes that the four men, who have captured his heart, need the love of a real man to keep them grounded. As each man turns to Zane for comfort, Adam realizes they all need time to heal. In what Zane calls a "tremendous act of love and devotion," Adam gives a heartfelt message to Rock Hard's fans in the hopes they can begin a new chapter in their lives.

    Excerpt

Adam felt a combination of emotions, all fighting their way for recognition. Sitting down on his bed, he reached for some loose pieces of sheet music on the nightstand. He looked at the finished product of Zane’s song, “A Forever Love.” Jamie was right, what had started as his heart speaking in lyrics to his new husband, should now be a testament to all of their jealousies. Picking up his pen nearby, Adam angrily scratched out the title, replacing it with “Jealous Hearts.” When that didn’t appease him, Adam ripped the pieces of paper in one smooth motion, tearing them in two. As the torn music fell at his feet, the front man thought for a brief moment that his actions were symbolic of the drama and chaos still present in his household.
He decided there would not be a song titled, “A Forever Love.” Nor would he ever write another power ballad for just one man. He made that mistake himself. Closing his eyes, Adam sank backward onto the bed. His thoughts returned to the last night of their tour, six weeks ago, at the arena in Little Rock. I’m dedicating this next song to Zane. The guys and I are in the process of working on a new album. There will be another power ballad titled, “A Forever Love.” The song was written in love…written for the man I’m holding in my arms.
As those words circled though his mind, Adam knew one of his mistakes was singling out Zane that night. He also felt that somewhere in the marriages he shared with each man, his greatest flaw was not being the support they needed. That not only washed sadness over him, but anger. Rock Hard’s fans didn’t know the half of it. He was not about to let their private life become a media sensation. Even Deuce’s detox had been hidden from prying eyes. The worst thing to hit the tabloids was that Zane had forged nonprofessional relationships with the band members.
    “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you.”
Adam heard Deuce’s voice behind him. Sitting up, he hadn’t realized his husband had walked into their bedroom.
“Deuce, you should be with L.T. He doesn’t need to be alone, especially after what I told him,” Adam said, with his back turned to his husband.
“I’ll check on him in a few minutes. Right now, we need to talk.”
“There’s nothing to talk about, Deuce. I was supposed to be the strength of this family. I saw the disappointment and pain in all of your eyes while we stood together in the kitchen.”
“Maybe Zane should counsel us all…as a family.”
    “Honestly, Deuce, at this point?”
Adam watched as Deuce took a seat next to him on the bed. His lover twined their fingers together.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t tell you about the pills and L.T.”
“Baby, you already told me that.”
“The first time I couldn’t get a hard-on was with Zane, about a week after the detox. The next was the first time Jamie let me touch him a few days later. We were kissing and nothing was happening. Luckily, Jamie stopped the affection. I don’t how I would have explained it to him.”
“It happens, Deuce. There’s nothing to be ashamed about. I’m not mad about the pills. I’m upset because something so intimate should have been shared with me. If you were having that type of problem you should have felt like you could talk to me. I don’t want you to feel pressure about having to be intimate with me, or any of us for that matter.”
“Zane thinks it’s a temporary reaction to the stress of the detox. I have four husbands I love with all my heart. I want to restore what we all shared. I felt like I couldn’t do that unless I could also be intimate with each of you. I know there’s more to this than just sex, but—”
“A lot more,” Adam stopped Deuce’s words, placing a finger over his partner’s lips.
For a moment neither man spoke, as Adam looked deeply into Deuce’s eyes. Everything he needed to see was present in his lover’s stare. He silently wondered why the five of them couldn’t make it work.
“I also should have told you about L.T, but I didn’t want to hurt you anymore. I wanted to try and bear that burden for as long as I could, in the hopes I could help him. He’s really messed up, Adam.”
“I know,” Adam felt tears forming in his eyes. Instead, he closed his lids tightly, stifling the display of emotion.
“Are you sure you’re all right with what Zane wants?” Deuce asked.
Adam felt his partner’s fingers lightly caressing his forearm.
    “Are you?” Adam countered.
“I don’t know. I mean, I think I am,” Deuce replied, sighing. “Sometimes, I feel like the five us are running like confused mice in some type of experiment. We’re caught in a maze, but can’t get out. We take a few steps one way, and then we find ourselves back at where we started.”
“I know I’ve always taken the lead in making decisions for this family.”
    “I know that, golden boy.”
“There’s a part of me that wants to try Zane’s suggestion, but I don’t want it to change what we share. Despite our problems, I feel closer to you now than I ever have, Deuce. I love you so very much.”
Watching as Deuce walked to the door and locked the doorknob, Adam knew what they had started in Zane’s bed earlier that afternoon was going to be finished. Zane’s suggestion of a ménage would have to wait, because right now, he felt his lover’s arms pulling him close.
