Dark Secret Love and the Erotic Alphabet Game

Dark Secret Love:
A Story of Submission
 by Alison Tyler
Trust me.
That's all he's asked for.
Trust me.
And I did.
a preface by pearls
Years ago, when I was first introduced to erotica literature, I would scour the used book stores for anything.  This was before Kindles & Nooks, before 50 Shades of Grey made BDSM an acceptable dinner topic.  Alison Tyler was there in the beginning.  She was part of my forbidden reading, part of my education into a world I had never known existed. In fact Alison's Wonderland was one of my first Netgalley downloads.
Now, after 25 years of writing, she brings us her semi-autobiographical book dark secret love.  She has changed names to protect the not-so-innocent.  Starting with her first encounter with a Dom while in high school, Ms. Tyler takes us on a her journey through college, to her first job, and to her first contract.  While the mile-stones create the timeline for the plot, the focus is on her journey as a submissive:  of the Doms she met and played with, of the failed relationships that shaped her.  Intended as a trilogy, this story only takes us through the beginning of "Samantha's" journey.  She has moved from Doms who knew what her body needed to Jack, who also nurtured her soul and dreams.

What I liked most about this book is the honesty.  Sam owns all her decisions.  She doesn't try to make excuses; she doesn't waffle back and forth, all the while whining.  Whether she is at a low or high point in her life, she admits to making the decisions that put her there.  There is a strength in her submission, not a desperation.  This is not the naive girl falling for the Big, Bad Dom.  This is someone who has needs trying to find someone who understands her and can give her what she needs in a relationship.
My favorite line from the book:
"There's a difference between being shy and being pure."

from Publishers Weekly
"Readers tired of sensationalistic portrayals of BDSM will appreciate Tyler's nuanced and realistic approach."

"In spite of my good-girl persona, I was bad to the core." DARK SECRET LOVE perfectly captures the dark, secret fantasies within us all.  Spunky and self-sure Samantha may be submissive, but knows exactly what she wants, and she isn't afraid to chase it.  DARK SECRET LOVE follows Samantha's quest for the perfect dom in an authentic, partially autobiographical meta-novel from literary siren Alison Tyler.  This romantic tale of submission is only the first in a lustful trilogy, and will whet your appetit for the next chapter of Samanth's story.

Inspired by her own BDSM exploits and private diaries, Alison Tyler draws on twenty-five years of penning sultry stories to create a scorchingly hot work of fiction, a memoir-inspired novel with reality at its core.
